We are proud to offer the following training plans that have been specifically written by nationally recognized triathlon coaches to meet the unique demands of the 2011 Nathan Tempe Triathlon. Each training plan comes with a Training Peaks account created specifically for each athlete.

Beginner/Intermediate Level ($69)

This plan is developed for the athlete who has either not completed a triathlon or has completed one and is looking to improve their performance, and is looking for a basic program designed to comfortably finish the Nathan Tempe Triathlon and/or improve their performance at this distance. The sprint plan is 12 weeks in duration and the Olympic plan is 14 weeks in duration, both utilizing Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) and Heart Rate (HR). Each consists of 1-2 workouts per  week in each sport with 2 (optional) strength training sessions. The total volume is between 5-12 hours a week. The athlete should be able to swim 500 yards (sprint) or 1000 yards (Olympic) in one session, bike for 1-2 hour in one session and run/walk for 30 minutes (sprint) 45 minutes (Olympic) in one session. It is NOT essential that the triathlete be able to match these distance, but it is encouraged.

Nathan Tempe Triathlon Training Plans (RPE and Heart Rate)

Intermediate/Advance Level ($89)

This plan is developed for the athlete who has completed a sprint, Olympic or greater distance triathlon and is looking for a program designed to make him/her competitive in his/her age group at the Nathan Tempe Triathlon. The plans are 12-14 weeks in duration, utilizing Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) and Heart Rate (HR), consisting of 3-4 workouts per week in each sport with 2-3 additional weight training sessions. The total volume is between 11-16 hours a week. The athlete should be able to swim 1000-1500 yards in one session, bike for 2-3:00 in one session and run/walk for 160-90 minutes in one session.

Nathan Tempe Triathlon Training Plans (Power Based)

Beginner/Intermediate Level ($49-69)

This plan is developed for the athlete who has either not completed a triathlon or has completed one and is looking to improve their performance, and is looking for a basic program designed to comfortably finish the Nathan Tempe Triathlon and/or improve their performance at this distance. The sprint plan is 12 weeks in duration and the Olympic plan is 14 weeks in duration, both utilizing Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE), Heart Rate (HR) and Power.
